Macroview Care Centre

Hello friends, hope you have a wonderful Mid-autumn aka Mooncake festival. Okay okay, I knew the festival had passed over several weeks but the fever has not cease from me yet :D I was invited by Robo to be photographer for a Mooncake festival celebration organized by Macroview Care Centre last Saturday. It is little awkward in the beginning as a bachelor like me should not has business there :P but the assignment turn out to be exciting and eyes-opening!

It is really embarrassing to start with as I was late by a whopping one hour that night!!! Good ol' Robo thought I must lost my way again as he called me up while I was actually stuck in the notorious traffic jam of Johor Bahru. Luckily, foods still abundant when I reached there ;) sorry friends, I'm too busy digging my hands into the mountain free flow of foods and forgot to shoot them "D

The Mooncake festival celebration at the care centre not only packed with mountain of yummylicious foods sponsored by the parents but also many exciting performances by the students and teachers. It is real embarrassing that I missed out several earlier performances as I was busy entertaining my tummy first after more than an hour drumming in hunger :P In the photo is Marc, a student of the care centre.

That night, he wow the audience with his skillful electric guitar jamming that many keep calling echo echo echo! Even the teacher was so sporting that she jump on-board and dance along. It is a touching sight as I used to heard many horror stories nowadays of teachers and students quarreled, name calling and even fought each other but here we have a pair of teacher and student that team-up so well to bring joy to others.

Now, came the power girls with their adrenaline pumping rock dance! It is awesome watching their fast motion rock dance. What amazed me was even at their young age, they surely put in practice the real spirit of teamwork. It need lot of trust and practice as a team to put together the fast precisely cohesive movements and they did it so well!

My adrenaline keep surging as another awesome performance enter into action even before I can wipe-off my sweat away. They made me laughed till stomach pain with their creative and funny rock dance using broom, mop and dustpan as musical instruments.

It has been many decades I haven't listen to children song. Listening live to the children singing in their innocence voice and watching their cute movement suddenly made me felt 20 years younger :D

More children joined together singing the song ... don't know what title they sang but I can heard myself humming along with their sweet innocence voice ")

Looking at this cheerful little girl, suddenly made me feel so sad that I don't have a kid myself yet :P It is very good idea to the Singapore government that perhaps they should organize single adults to this kind of children event if they want more babies :D Promoting gathering among single adults likely spark romance but not necessary their desire to have babies :)

The teachers also not a sitting duck as one of the teacher who taught musical class at the care centre sang her high octane song that wow the audience.

The most heart touching moment... a parent showed her gratitude to her daughter during an award giving ceremony. The award is very unique as it was not gave to student that excel in academic score that many typical school do. It is only awarded to student that demonstrated high emotional intelligence (EQ). In this case, the student successfully overcame an undesirable behavior that received recognition and praised by her peers, teachers and parent. It is very high and transparent marking criteria that encourage students not only to be smarter but most important a better person.

The Mooncake festival will not be so successful without the full support of the students and their beloved parents. It is heart-warming to see many parents not only spare their precious time to attend their children event but gave generously such as banners and foods.

The cheerful, energetic and dedicated teachers at Macroview Care Centre that nurture the students to be better person.

Robo told me the care centre started in 2003 with one student and one teacher. They accepted children from the age of two to eleven years old and to-date they have more than 60 students and ten teachers. It is an extraordinary care centre as the focus is not solely on the academic achievement of the students. Their main focus is to help parents to recognize and nurturing their children potential, and to develop them into a better person that able to be independent, with good attitude, gratitude and genuinely care for others. The person that drive this noble idea is not other than the care centre principal himself, which is Mr. Tan (in red shirt).

and his most trusted partner, which is also his wife.

The last event before we call-off the day was lighting up the candles and lanterns. It is a heart-warming sight watching the children gather together joyfully and helping each other lighting up the candles.

Well, that was my first assignment for a children event and special thanks to Robo for the unforgettable opportunity. The Macroview Care Centre is located at a corner lot (opposite Taman Daya 3 Secondary School) of Jalan Nibong 48, Taman Daya, Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia.
